From Gate-Keeping to Gate-Opening: Fostering Agency in Troubled Times Exhibition
Torhaus, Berlin, Germany
2024
"From Gate-Keeping to Gate-Opening: Fostering Agency in Troubled Times" is a collective exhibition marking the culmination of the "We Are Open" residency program held by Torhaus.
Presented by LIOS Labs' softcore agents, Hanna Whitlow and Xtina Ariaz, the exhibition introduces "The Banner of Belonging," a symbol reflecting the essence of their residency and LIOS Labs' core values. Collaborating with fellow agent Katherina Meyers, they created this artwork during the Crafting Spells For Community Workshop. Its significance lies in emphasising art as a means to empower community engagement and envision a flourishing collective future.
The Banner of Belonging serves as a gateway, inviting visitors to participate in various activities at the multidisciplinary theatre lab. Led by Hanna Whitlow and Xtina Ariaz, along with guest facilitators, the lab encourages exploration, somatic reflection, and communal rituals, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and community involvement.
