LIOS Desert Lab

Set against the sandy dunes and rare grasses of the Błędowska Desert, the 2023 residency program places an emphasis on the art of listening and observation. Thirty-four international artists have been invited to engage in an interdisciplinary exploration, employing artistic research methods to map the unique ecosystem of the desert.
The data gathered through these methods serves as material for crafting new narratives—stories deeply rooted in the land itself. These narratives form new cognitive pathways through which humans can re/connect with their innate sense of belonging with Gaia.
Shifting away from the anthropocentric lens, Desert Lab envisions interspecies coexistence, prototyping an ecological community framework.
