Sharing of the Fruits Festival

A micro festival of music and arts.
Set in Błędowska Desert, Poland between July 29 and August 1, the theme of an experimental edition of LIOS labs micro festival was Sharing of the Fruits (SotF). SotF sounded the question:
“How to cultivate reciprocity and ethics of abundance in times of scarcity?”
The festival, organised as a culmination of the three rounds of Arts of Ecology residencies, was a pilot event, prototyping a climate neutral public music production in the desert.
Our goal was to decrease the carbon footprint of the festival by means of sustainable booking (inviting local artists, promoting land travel), the use of solar energy to power sound systems, lights and charging devices, offering strictly plant-based and local food and beverage products, sheustainable water usage (aware-DIY showers) and offering biodegradable soaps.
In terms of the concept, curation and educational value of the event, SofT promoted queer, underground artists, offering an eclectic mix of audio-visual experiences. The festival had a participatory format, which allowed the participants to take an active role in the running of the event.
Based on the production of SotF, onEarth foundation together with a team of independent researchers published “A Manual for Regenerative Gatherings” open source guidelines for cultural promoters and festival organisers. It is available for free download on the onEarth foundation website.
